Equally, the McLaren Vale wine region which is less than 1 hour from Adelaide also has more than sixty wineries to choose from. Adelaide Hills has fewer wineries and specialise in ‘cool climate’ wines, and is also less than 1 hour from Adelaide. To the North we have the Clare Valley which being a ‘cold climate’ specialises in Riesling, however there is also an abundance of excellent red varieties. Being more than 2 hours from Adelaide Clare Valley is best taken as a two day tour.
